24″ square
Pattern: Original design.
Technique: Hand stitched.
Medium: Hand dyed and printed cotton fabric.
Doesn’t this piece remind you of the Cat in the Hat? Something just popped out of the bag. This came about from an exchange of studio scraps – Bag O’ Stuff. My scraps came all the way from Washington and the colours were not something I would choose. Push yourself and it’s amazing what you can do.
The hand pieced curved sections are appliquéd onto the grey background fabric and then outlined with variegated embroidery floss.

Close lines of quilt stitches fill the background fabric. The curved seams are quilted stitch-in-the-ditch.

The binding is made of pieced fabrics used in the quilt – giving a striped effect.
