Here is the stage, here are the people in the surrounding boxes. This is my living opera with all the people and all the places stitched into the fabric, woven like the tapestry of life.
Variegated dark violet cotton thread is embroidered in lines over the quilted names – a large running stitch is used.
Rich brown variegated cotton thread crosses outlining where the machine quilting changes from horizontal to vertical lines.
The large curved arches and rosy-pink background are pieced in sections. The curved seams are stitched together by hand.
I sign my work with a permanent ink marker on the front. Here you can see the curved seams in the middle of the biggest arches.
