Each year the High Fiber Diet group curates a collection of quilts for exhibition. For 2016 the theme is Make Our Mark, and the colours are neutral – black, grey, brown, white – plus less than 25% other colours. There are size options, 24″ square, 24″ x 42″, or 42″ x 24″. As it takes me a long time to hand stitch my work, and I didn’t have a long lead time, I opted for the smallest size.
There needed to be a “mark” in the piece. As small, or as large as wanted. I quilted my mark into one of the ready made squares at the lower edge of the piece (as seen here, 5th across and 3rd from the bottom of the image).

I embroidered a scattering of French knots in silk ribbon around the oval appliqué shapes.
