Have you tried this yet? It is my favourite thread for hand appliqué. The 100wt thread is so fine it disappears into the fabric. There are 200 meters on each spool. I recommend using it with Jean Lyle straw needles, the needle is long and thin with a small eye and handles this fine thread very well.
If you want to save a bit of money consider buying a YLI silk thread spool collection, Elly Sienkiewicz and Pat Campbell have put together tubes of seven spools for the price of six. Or you can buy an assorted collection of five neutral colours for the price of four which could take care of all your appliqué needs.

Your package arrived safely today, packed with excruciating tidyness. I use this fine silk thread for bracing wires on model airplanes, especially flying models with biplane wings. My current project is a tiny control line stunt model for living room aerobatics, which will zoom about at the end of silk flying lines. This plane has an electric motor with throttle function controlled by radio. Having you as a supplier means that I do not need to hide my thread supply from my wife any longer - I ordered enough for her sewing needs as well. Thanks!
