Many years ago I was introduced to YLI silk threads and as I recently was asked to teach needleturn applique I thought I would share my secret to beautiful needleturn applique. We scheduled the day and after using my threads my sewing friends were so impressed they got me to order some.

As i had previously bought my threads through you a long time ago of course I sang your praises and was pleased to find that your website was still up and running. The service you provide is second to none! and my friends were so impressed with the packaging, hand written note on the invoice and of course the low shipping cost.

They are busy stitching away now and are looking at stocking up on other colours.

The YLI 100 spools are popular among the makers of classic style bamboo fly rods (such as myself). The line guides are held to the rod by winding silk thread over each end of the little wire guides foot. The silk is then given multiple layers of varnish to secure it in place and gives a nice smooth, translucent effect. Thank you also for enclosing a Jean Lyle quilting needle! I'm a bit of a luddite, and my favorite quilting activities are hand applique and hand quilting, so I've gotten somewhat fussy about needles. The needle you sent me is unlike any I have encountered in my decades of quilting; it just about quilted by itself, it slipped through the fabric so beautifully! Separately from this email I am ordering some and some applique needles as well. What a find! I can hardly wait to tell my fellow hand quilters (a small group of Islanders who share my hand quilting interest). In the meantime, I am ordering extras to pass around so they can enjoy the same "Ah-Hah!" moment I did.

Thank you for being careful about your shipping pricing. One factor is deciding to do business with you was your shipping cost. One local quilt shop is just across a toll bridge from me. ometimes I just can't justify having to pay $4 round trip to run by there and pick up some thread. Anyhow, she doesn't carry your lovely YLI thread.

I'm looking forward to using my straw needle, thanks to you. My Clover needle threader makes it possible for me to even use it! I'm doing my first applique project and anticipating good things due to using the right tools!

The order arrived today. Thank you so much for the quick service and the appliqué needle, I will give it a try. The threads are beautiful. I am using them for machine trapunto and small free motion work on dupioni. I had a few 200m spools from some heirloom projects several years ago, so when I ran out (mid-project of course), I did a search online and found your site and the large spools and the wonderful colors I did not know were available!

I am enjoying perusing your site, your art is so intriguing. I admire and appreciate hand work, but do mostly machine work in my stitching. I really like the dimensions & textures your quilts exhibit, even in pictures- I can imagine they are exquisite in person.

Your package arrived safely today, packed with excruciating tidyness. I use this fine silk thread for bracing wires on model airplanes, especially flying models with biplane wings. My current project is a tiny control line stunt model for living room aerobatics, which will zoom about at the end of silk flying lines. This plane has an electric motor with throttle function controlled by radio. Having you as a supplier means that I do not need to hide my thread supply from my wife any longer - I ordered enough for her sewing needs as well. Thanks!
