Another in the series of stylized still lifes. The croton grew like nobodies business in Antigua. There were so many varieties, shapes, sizes and colours. This one grew outside our house and had a strange curly leaf. Very bright colouring.
The house is a wooden money box my grandmother gave me when I was a little girl.
I believe this painting is with another friend from Antigua who at the last reckoning, lived in Chicago.
