Storage Cubes for Inventory

Storage cubes in the artist's home studio
To support my art quilting habit I have developed an online store for Supplies and Gifts and notions. There is an ulterior motive of course ... I can buy all the supplies I love and get them for a wholesale price.
All the items I use are available for you to buy and they have to be kept somewhere. These storage cubes from Costco are not necessarily easy to put together (raspberry noise here - they made me swear a lot and use a hammer!) but once assembled are perfect for boxes of threads, pins and needles and other goodies.
On top of the cubes you can see my hand dyed silk scarves. They are draped over two display trees my very kind husband made for me. I brought home one of the trees we use for our Guild shows and he used it as a model. They have a lovely cherry wood base which he gave a high polish to so the grain stands out. There are cross bars with hooks screwed in so I can use them to hand my smaller items.
Before getting into quilting I used to knit. I designed my own sweaters and stashed yarn instead of fabric. Over the years my knitting has dwindled until now I only knit my tiny amulet bags. Well, I lie, I am knitting the eternal sweater for my husband. You know, the one you promise him for Christmas - which Christmas is not specified!
Even now, after sorting through my yarn stash I still have basket loads of skeins and balls. Just can't seem to part with them quite yet. So they get stored in the cubes so I can look at them and pretend a sweater or two will be created.
You can't see it in the picture but below the yarn is all my dyeing equipment. The Procion dyes, the plastic tubs to put the fabric in, the soda ash, the little squeezy bottles, masks - everything needed to make a huge mess!
