Rulers in the artist's studio

Okay, so I've been called anal before. I can't help wanting to have my tools handy and easy to see.

There are nails to hang each of my rulers on the wall so they are easily accessible. It also means if something is missing I know what ought to be there. This is exactly what men do in their tool sheds so don't tell me I'm weird! Some of them even have outlines of each tool on the wall like the ones police draw around murder victims. I don't go quite that far!

I have my rotary cutting rulers lined up alongside my drafting tools. For some reason I have managed to acquire three 6" x 24" rotary rulers. Not sure why and I do use them all. My eighteen inch steel ruler is really useful as I use it to tear sheets of tissue paper up for packaging my orders.

There is a wooden yardstick which Hancock's (not the one in Paducah) was handing out for free, which can be used for measuring out fabric. A package of different sizes circle templates. They are made with acrylic so if I wanted to I could use a small rotary cutter to cut circle pieces. A variety of triangles come in handy and I also have several different sized squares. These are very useful for lap work so you can lay out pieces on top when you are in the car or at a bee.

Everything is within reachable distance from my central table where I lay out my mat boards and do my cutting.
