Summer detail of Four Seasons of Oatlands, fractal art quilt

© Rose Rushbrooke 2000
This is the Summer detail; the curved pieces have been outlined with quilting stitches close to the seam - this is known as stitch-in-the-ditch. Underneath the seam allowance has been ironed in one direction - the quilting stitches are on the free side allowing for less layers of fabric to quilt through.
