Not All Buttoned Up - art quilt

Pattern: Nine patch.
Medium: Hand dyed pima cotton.
Technique: Machine pieced, button holed, hand embellished and machine quilted.

This piece was made for the Self-Portrait book of the Q&A art quilters group. The original plan was to make small art quilts for people to touch at our exhibitions and it evolved into individual artwork representing each member.
As an English woman in America I am often considered rather formal and conservative. This little piece is made from a traditional quilt pattern gone mad with buttons. There are several open buttonholes to indicate not everything is buttoned up.
Techniques used in this piece:
- machine pieced;
- button holed;
- embellished with buttons;
- machine quilted.
