Cleopatra: Looking for Short Term Relationship by Justina Coffey
I was browsing through this year’s BeadDreams winners and was – as per usual – amazed but not drawn by the pieces selected.
I love a good sense of humour and when I saw this amongst the entries for the Objects and Accessories section I fell in love. This is wonderful. And when you read the title you want to meet the designer. You KNOW you’ll have fun if you hung out together.
I’m truly sorry I didn’t spend the time to vote and try and get this little gem into the winner’s circle.

Facade by Diana Goulston Robinson0
The National Quilt Museum is holding this gorgeous exhibition by the Manhattan Quilt Guild from August 12th to November 15th 2016.
I am very drawn to this quilt Facade by Diana Goulston Robinson. Not sure if it is the repetition of shapes, the colour choices, the off center design, the overlay of lines, or the whole kit and caboodle. Likely the latter!
Just a lovely piece.
Fabrications opened at the ArtReach Gallery in downtown Portland. The pieces for the show were selected from quilts made by members of the Columbia FiberArts Guild.
Two of my fractal quilts are showing at the Fabrications exhibition. The Cliffs of Progress and Lydia. Both are fractal based designs.

The Festival of Quilts, UK
I remember when this quilt show was held at the Alexandra Palace in North London. Now it’s at the NEC in Birmingham. I’ve been to both venues and enjoyed spending the day at each.
The Festival is on from 11th to 14th August. I love the European wording – Patchwork and Quilting show. In America we don’t use the patchwork bit so much.
Silver Cake by Jeannie Moore
This year the SAQA exhibition ‘Celebrating Silver‘ is showing. This is such a fun piece – Silver Cake by Jeannie Moore.
Lemon Zest bracelet by Rose Rushbrooke
Going through my bag of finished beadwork I found this cute, colourful bracelet. It was made for the annual My Lovely Beads Fashion Colorworks Beading Contest in 2013.
Lemon Zest bracelet laid flat.
It is 7¾” long from end to end. It is fastened with a folding circle which slips through the end loop and then opens up to hold the bracelet together.
Made with seed beads and emerald glass crystals using cubic right angle weave and brick stitch.
