Breakfast at Tiffany’s – cubic right angle weave bracelet designed by Elizabeth Townes of BeadJeweled Inc

There I was, sitting at one of my beading group meetings, next to Elizabeth Townes. She was assembling a thoroughly gorgeous bracelet which I immediately coveted. Um…. I said. Is this a pattern you’ve designed? Yes, says Liz. Um….. I say again. I am nothing if not eloquent. Would you like someone to test it for you? Absolutely, says Liz. When my daughter has done the layout printwork I’ll make up a kit. You can keep the bracelet when you’ve finished working through the pattern and given me notes.

Um…..I said. You see the pattern here?

So Liz did as she said, and I worked through and made notes on the pattern. And get to wear this very romantic bracelet practically every minute of the day. And if I didn’t worry about it catching on something during the night, I would wear it then.

Look how the crystals run along. They are stitched on top of cubic right angle weave components.

Pretty eh? This one stays in my jewelry collection.

You can find kits and patterns at Elizabeth’s website – BeadJeweled Inc., along with books and a list of her workshops.

Butterflies, Birds and Lollipops – YLI 100wt silk thread Applique travel set by Jeanne Sullivan

I do love these YLI collections. First of all, you save money over buying each of these spools individually. Secondly, the colours are so pretty it’s almost worth making a quilt to match!

2014 Free Block of the Month Video

FREE Block of the Month class at Craftsy.com

Well…..! A free Block of the Month designed to teach you about color. Now I say this is pretty darn decent. Craftsy.com have managed to get Amy Walsh and Janine Burke to put together a video showing you color basics, color combinations, value contrasts, and something called hexadic color schemes. I had to look it up as I was as flummoxed as you!

To teach you all this largess you get to make six blocks. If you don’t want to think about selecting fabrics then naturally (!) you can buy the Michael Miller kits directly from Craftsy.

I’d say this is a pretty good deal!
