About the Artist

Born in London, England Rose has lived abroad since 1986. First moving to Antigua in the West Indies and then to Virginia, USA. She met her American husband in the islands and relocated here in 1996. Her professional career as an artist began in the Caribbean where she made her living painting.

Her interest in modern fractal geometry led her to using these fascinating images as a starting point for her work. As she goes through the construction process the abstract meaning unfolds.

The wall hangings are a mixture of hand and machine stitching. Natural and man made fibers are incorporated. Using the traditional skills of piecing, appliqué, embroidery, embellishment and quilting she takes the craft of quilting to another level.

She exhibits nationally and internationally at both quilt and art shows. Photographs of her work are in quilting, art magazines and catalogues. She has been filmed by HGTV for "Simply Quilts", by Adelphia for "Artscape", and the opening of her Charlottesville exhibition in November 2005 was filmed for local screening. She can no longer say she is owed her fifteen minutes of fame.
