About the owners and the shop Rushbrooke Strand

How did it begin?
My husband David gave me a computer when we first arrived in America in 1996. He showed me how to turn it on and exited the office promptly when told to go away and leave me alone. A year later the first website went up.

At least this is the story we tell though there are many bad language moments and a big learning curve before the store you are in now became a reality.

Why thread?
My specialty is hand work. Many of my quilts are hand pieced, embroidered and quilted. Gorgeous threads are important elements of quilt construction and therefore cause for greed. So we now extend the thread pleasure to you!

The inventory grows each year. And continues to grow.

David MullinsAnd who is this guy?
Enter my husband. He packs and ships your goodies, and helps with the web site. He is far better at wrapping packages than I - in fact I get him to wrap all our Christmas presents too. He runs our sister site Rod Wrapping Thread because he knows and loves fishing.

When he isn't helping me he is all of the following:

In a nutshell - husband, keen fly fisherman, businessman, entrepreneur, salesman, web site designer, commercial pilot, telcom engineer, marine engineer, amateur radio operator, teacher, gardener, yachtsman, boat builder, cabinet maker and world traveler.

In his spare time, you'll find David out fishing, fishing, fishing...

Naturally there isn't a chance of getting bored - he keeps me entertained.

1695 Map of Suffolk by John Seller showing Rushbrok villageAnd what about me?
I am English. My family has been around a while. Rushbrooke village was recorded in the Domesday book - which contains records for 13,418 settlements in the English counties south of the rivers Ribble and Tees (the border with Scotland at the time). The first draft was finished in August 1086. This is a photograph of a map by British cartographer John Seller published in 1695, showing the village of Rushbrok in Suffolk. Our ancentral seat. My grandfather lived in Rushbrooke Hall when he was a boy.

And I love threads - all sorts of threads. And you are here because you love them too. So if we met we'd have plenty to talk about!

If you like cartoons and animations you'll like my hobby - Trollbaby Toons. And if you are curious about finding out more you can go to my blog where I post about animation and artwork - To A Neon Mini Mart
